Update your Sage Pastel Accounting and Pastel Payroll / VIP Software to remain compliant, to secure your data and take advantage of the latest fixes.


To check the version of your Pastel product, go to Help, About.

The latest versions of the products are:

Pastel Payroll: 2026 Update 1b (released 3 June 2025)
Sage VIP / SBCPP: Release 6.4a (released 18 March 2025)

Xpress & Partner: version 19.4.5 (released 4 March 2024)

Pervasive: Version 13

Pastel Payroll (2026 update 1b):

  • New SARS tax codes 4042 and 4588 have been implemented.
  • The new OID earning threshold has been increased to R633,168.
  • The site code entered during registration is now validated.
  • When creating a new company, the year defaults to 2025-2026.
  • Annual leave accural errors have been fixed.
  • The MIBCO council levies have been increased.

Sage VIP / SBCPP Payroll (release 6.4 & 6.4a):
  • Updated tax rates for the 2025/26 tax year.
  • Adjusted tax handling of repayments/refunds to employees.
  • Updated Sage account integration.
  • UI19 Report updates.
  • Updated support links.
  • Fixed error with total hours on .B batches report.
  • Fixed spelling error under email recipient list.
  • Fixed date error for dates falling in 2025.
  • Fixed error on trade union tab.
  • Adjusted messag and report for SSS.
  • Fixed error with MERSET report.
  • Fixed error with CHIETA report.
  • Fixed error when importing tax numbers.
  • Fixed OID error with transferring employees


Sage 50c Pastel Xpress / Partner Accounting (19.4.5):

  • The drill down functionality on reports has been enhanced.
  • Fixed error with users accessing cash book transfers.
  • URL has been updated under Help...Move to Sage Accounting.
  • System date field has been added to the Transaction Audit Trail. 
  • Menu headings and URL’s have been updated.
  • Contact number has been updated in the licence agreement.
  • The Bank Manager Walkthrough will now open when selected.
  • Bills of Materials Requirements report will now allow 9 digits.
  • Transfers between different currency cash books prevented.
  • Prevention of runtime error 11 when matching a payment.
  • Warning error removed when running Microsoft Office Integration.
  • The percentage value will no longer print with a currency symbol.
  • Closing and opening balances on Detailed Ledger now aligned.
  • Prevention of runtime error 9 when adjusting future prices.
  • The totals on the Sales by Items report are now aligned.
  • Cash book transactions updated in the Remittance Assistant.
  • Unposted quantity on hand will reflect correctly after updating.
  • Bank Reconciliation assistant will find the value.
  • Prevention of runtime error 6 when importing invoices.

Pervasive Version 13

Actian (the company that provides and develops Pervasive) no longer supports earlier Pervasive versions. Sage are therefore encouraging all of their clients to upgrade to Pervasive version 13.
  • Pastel tables update faster and more reliably.
  • File structure less prone to corruption than previous versions.

Your annual licence fee includes upgrades to the latest versions. Although the software is free, we will charge for time to upgrade your version. There may be a minimal charge to upgrade the Pervasive version.
